Music and Poetry Themed Wedding

One of the first questions you get asked when planning your wedding is “what’s your theme?” And you might be tempted to go with a color or just say “a big white wedding,” but you can actually have a real theme without it being cheesy!

The key (pun intended) to having a theme is to keep it subtle. Add little hints of it into everything but don’t go too overboard.

Shelby and Jacob held there ceremony in the Golden Gate Park Shakespeare Garden: an ode to their love for poetry and music alike. The two were surrounded by colorful flowers and pink tapestries to bring out that bright and romantic feeling you might get from reading a shakespearean drama.

They also incorporated the poetry and music themes into their vows and each chose a piece to play for each other on their own instruments during their reception. Shelby played the obo and Jacob his tuba. Jacob also conducted a classical band with strings, brass, woodwind, and percussion.

The two also provided childrens drums so their guests could participate in creating music with the couple. Guests played the drums to the beat of the music and danced along to the beat!

And of course, we made sure to capture special details like the sheet music they each chose to to dedicate to each other while we photographed their wedding, along with otheer special details like the view of the city street from their hotel and Shelby’s ring held by Shakespeare himself.
